Casio - photokina

For the stage show “EXciting EXilim” at the Photokina Trade Show 2006, costumes were created to express the style of the “EXilim” digital camera. The direction from agency on behalf of the client (Casio) was clearly defined. To raise product identity by using the silver grey colour of the camera and the Casio red, in the costume design. It was decided that because of the many “light flashes” in the show the silver material should not be reflective.
The six dancers performed very energetic choreography with many acrobatic elements, often on the rotating EX-Installation walk way. Therefore the costumes needed to be constructed to meet these demands with extra attention taken to flexibility and durability. As is often the case for these “industrial” shows the schedule was gruelling (six to seven shows a day) and the costumes needed to withstand this treatment. Particularly demanding was a cat suit for a contortionist who had to weave her way through the set design. The catsuit needed to remain skin tight at all times no matter what movement the contortionist made. For the costume of the second female dancer I used a red and black motif inspired by the snake like movements of the contortionist.
